Just a quick note to let you know that the above piece will be showing at the J. Lucas Gallery in Provincetown, Massachusetts. The show, Icons & Art: Michelle and Barack, opens tonight with a reception from 7-9pm, and then remains on view until October 25. I know that Provincetown isn’t on the way to anywhere but Provincetown, but stop by if you happen to be in the area.
Our friends Jon and Karen Conant have been busy putting things together for the Hive’s grand opening and spreading the word. Check out this quick interview with Jon on ArtThrob.
And coming up in just two short weeks:
The blog has been sort of silent of late as a busy schedule and a new direction for my paintings have intervened. However, I wanted to post a note that four of my quarry paintings will be on display for a while in Gloucester. The large one, 36×48″, that I completed in December will be on display at Passports Restaurant at 110 Main Street in Gloucester. Three very small paintings, 5×7″, continue to be on display at Flatrocks Gallery at 77 Langsford Street, also in Gloucester.
I should have a completed painting in the new style/direction soon, so stay tuned until then.
I also have been looking for a studio/teaching space so I once again offer the bootcamp courses that were developed by my mentor, Rob Howard. I will let you know here as soon as I know if that will be a possiblity this year.
For those of you in the Gloucester area, I have work showing at two venues here in the home stretch of winter.
The first is at The Art Room, at 3 Center Street in downtown Gloucester. My work will be there through the end of March.
The second is a small collection of quarry landscape pieces at Flatrocks Gallery’s Winter Show. They’re also showing the portrait of Dominique for the first time in public. Visit Flatrocks on the web here. Their gallery is at 77 Langsford Street in Lanesville.
All the paintings that were recently at the Cove Gallery show have been returned and are back up for sale at Etsy. You can find my shop here. Please note that all paintings sold through Etsy now come framed and ready to hang, despite the statement to the contrary in the listings.
If you’re a Cape Ann local, you can still see some of my work hanging at Flatrocks Gallery through January 3rd.
…but I’m going to be at Cove Gallery today from noon to 5pm, sitting in the gallery and showing my work. Stop on by and say hi if you can!

Quarry Wall, version two, 5×7″, oil on panel.
It’s been a good weekend for me. I had five paintings in a local show, and according to rumor, they all sold! (I haven’t gotten official word from the organizer yet.) My wife and I drove down to DC to pick up the cutest little Bedlington Terrier puppy you ever saw. Her name is Whiskey. And, to top it all off, one of my paintings was just featured on an Etsy Treasury.
So it’s been a pretty good weekend for me. I hope I have more like that!
Today’s painting is one of a series of quarry paintings I’m doing at Halibut Point State Park.
