And a little color and voilà! I think the color does an excellent job of conveying the graphic quality of the right hand side, and I was happy with my approximation of Titian’s piece in gouache.

Here’s one of the portfolio pieces I’m working on.The concept here is that since Obama has yet to actually enter the Oval Office, people are still left with their lingering impressions of him from the brutal election and all of the character assassination/mudslinging that goes along with that. Now, I hope that he’s a good President, I think we all do, but some of those on the extremes feel he’s either the Second Coming or some sort of Marxist crazy. So I wanted to get a visual image that fits that. I’ve swiped shamelessly from Titian and the anonymous designers of the Soviet Propaganda machine here.

This will be done in gouache, and is currently a pencil sketch. I’ve taken the pencil sketch and copied it onto Annigoni paper with my home printer, so that I have all of the energy of the original drawing without having to kill it by tracing. Tomorrow I will have a finished piece, or at least much more color.
