Another posting to update you on my paintings on view around town.
Flatrocks Gallery sold a couple of paintings over the weekend, so I will be replacing them for this weekend. On view will be Motorboat, 5×7″, and Mud Flats-Annisquam River, also 5×7″. Stop by and check them out in person.
All good work is done first with the pencil. These are a couple of doodles I did out of my head, without reference. The first is a compositional sketch for an upcoming painting, and the second is me playing around, sketching the figure. I’ve been reading a lot about Rubens lately.
Motorboat, 5×7″, oil on panel.
Tide Pools, 11×14″, oil on canvas panel.
Red Boat in Lobster Cove, 5×7″, oil on panel.
Here are the pieces I did the last two days. Conditions today were very windy and my subject (Red Boat) on the water meant there was no windbreak anywhere nearby. I still think I managed to capture the values and colors though, even if the boat was swinging back and forth on its mooring the whole time.
